I am having trouble using the scanner in the app. What do I do?
If your device isn't scanning as it should try these tips to troubleshoot your device; or reach out to us if need more help or have a question about your device's capabilities.
Scanning tips & instructions:
- Check that you're in scan mode. You will see your camera's view through the app.
- Try and focus the bar code between the green lines. Making sure there are no shadows and pull the camera back very slowly.
- Allow time for your camera to focus and wait for the beep.
- Give yourself some practice. it might take a few tries to get the hang of it. It's easiest to practice on flat bar codes, like on cereal boxes.
If you are using iOS make sure your camera settings for Fooducate are turned off.
- Launch the SETTINGS app
- Scroll & tap PRIVACY
- Tap CAMERA
- Scroll to the Fooducate App
- Switch slider to ON
